Rothes FC 1 v 0 Fort William FC

The Fort left Rothes on Wednesday night rueing their missed opportunities once more. Despite dominating the early stages the Fort once again found themselves a goal down and despite inaccurate reports, it was confirmed that the goal was scored by a Fort William player.   With a number of first team regulars unavailable due to injury, illness and work committments the Fort were expected to struggle however the make shift team battled strongly and were unlucky not to come away with the points. A resolute Rothes defense kept their second clean sheet in row for the first time this season.

Wednesday's team;  Robert Lewandowski, , Declan MacNeil, Iain Foggo, Sam Urquhart, Sean Ellis, Michael Ellis, Michael Gillespie (Lewis Corbett 72), Jonathan Hewitt, Simon Shields, Darren Quigg, and Ritchie Finnis (Drew Ferguson 65).

Forres Mechanics FC 4 v 2 Fort William FC

The Fort came back from 3 - 0 down to 3 - 2 and looking like they may even steal a point in what was a very entertaining game in Forres on Wednesday evening. Once again a poor start cost the visitors as a mix up in defence led to the opener for Forres on 2 minutes. On ten minutes John Campbell was the hero when he saved a Forres penalty after Simon Shields was judged to have brought down Ricky Wardrop. It wasn't until they were two down that the Fort got into the game and started playing the football they have thus far only shown in short spells. However any sign of an early fight back was scuppered when Forres's number 10, a giant of a player with a good first touch and an eye for goal, forced himself between the two Fort centre backs 25 yards from goal and cooly slotted home past John Campbell.  Sam Urquhart and Sean Ellis have formed a great understanding over the last couple of weeks and it was these two who were involved in both Fort goals. The first came from a free kick right on the edge of the Forres penalty area when a well struck Sean Ellis drive went round the wall and although the Forres keeper was able to block it, Sam Urquhart was once again in the right place and reacted quickest to force the ball across the line.  At half time the four Fort William supporters in the stand were feeling a bit relieved as the opening of the game brought back memories of high scoring routs of the past and with Mark Gillespie, Jonathan Hewitt, Danny Macintosh, Ryan Haggerty, Drew Ferguson and Andy Martin all missing from the squad, defensively the Fort did look vulnerable. Into the second half and immediately the Fort were on the offensive again it was the Sean Ellis, Sam Urquhart and the hard working Michael Gillespie who were linking up well to cause the hosts concern. With only 5 minutes gone in the second half Sam and Sean played a series of one - two's which concluded with Sean driving into the Forres penalty area before slotting away the Fort's second with his weaker right foot.  The Fort continued to press for an equaliser and made several chances but it was Forres who scored the next and final goal of the game, a well struck shot high into the net from six yards out.

Inverness Clach 3 v 0 Fort William FC

The Fort came away from Inverness having lost a game that could easily have been drawn. The opening goal for Clach was the most bizzare that we have lost certainly within the last two seasons. Michael Gillespie gave away a free kick 22yds from goal and Gordon Morrison let fly with a cracking shot which was pushed onto the post by the Fort keeper. The ball came off the post bounced back off of John Campbell, hit the cross bar came back down hitting John again before crossing the line. This was not the first goal of the game however as the Fort had what appeared to be a perfectly taken goal by Johny Hewitt chalked off for offside. Into the second half and the Fort made a change as Sean Ellis made way for young Ian Maclellan's debut for the first team. The game was fairly even at this point but that was change following a penalty award for Clach, when Johny Hewitt was penalised for a tackle within the Fort's box. The penalty was duly dispatched by Michael Finnis, brother of Fort forward Ritchie Finnis who himself had a chance to score on 80 mins when he was one on one with the Clach keeper. Ritchie's shot was stopped by the advancing keeper and within 5 mins Clach went on to score their third when Blair Lawrie hit a drive which John Campbell was powerless to stop.
